Usernames in Domino are not treated as immutable keys, so can be changed at will with no impact to the application.
Instead, it is the user's email address that is treated as immutable. As such, Domino Admins can freely pursue changes to the format of usernames either directly in the Domino UI, or in integrated SSO systems, as long as users are retaining their existing email addresses.
After a change to a username is made, all in application paths which reference the user object will show the updated username.
If your organization is using local usernames and passwords, you can change a username in the Domino UI with the following steps:
- Click your username icon on the lower left of the Domino navigation bar and select "Account Settings."
- Highlight "Login Profile" and click the "Manage Login Profile" button to the right.
- Here you can adjust your Domino profile as needed.
For integrated LDAP/AD and SSO systems please follow your vendor's guidance.
If your organization needs to pursue changes that involve the alteration of user email addresses, please engage Domino support for scoping and impact investigation.
