Version/Environment (if relevant):
Domino < 5.8.0
Issue:
Non-Admin users who can only create Private environments incorrectly have access to an Edit Visibility link and the Update Visibility button. When they click on Update Visibility, they get an error message about a duplicate environment name, which doesn't make sense within the context.
Error: Cannot update environment visibility: Another environment is already named <name of environment>.
Root Cause:
When a non-Admin user creates an environment, the visibility is Private by default. Only Admins can edit an environment's visibility and set it to Global.
This is a bug where non-Admin users can click on the Edit Visibility link and the Update Visibility button that leads to the confusing toast error message about another environment with a duplicate name.
Resolution:
This bug is resolved in Domino 5.8.0. For non-Admin users, the Edit Visibility link is grayed out and the tooltip shows: Only Administrators can make environments Globally Accessible. Reach out to your Domino Admin if you would like to make your environment available to all projects.
